Allied Telesyn and WelTec announce Scholarship

Multi-national company Allied Telesyn and WelTec's School of Information Technology have announced a significant scholarship for a second year information technology degree student.

Murray Wills, Head of WelTec’s School of Information Technology said that the Allied Telesyn Scholarship will offer paid summer work with Allied Telesyn and a cash grant.

“One of WelTec’s major goals is to provide practical, industry relevant courses,” says Wills. “Last year degree students worked on a project with Allied Telesyn as one of the requirements for the degree. This partnership and the scholarship are a recognition of the work the School is doing and an indication of how valuable industry sees this relationship as well."

Scott Coles, Managing Director of Allied Telesyn Research says that the scholarship provides a win-win situation for everyone. “We are able to provide not only financial assistance, but also practical experience for these students while they are studying,” says Coles. “The students, in turn, are able to undertake cutting-edge networking research that directly benefits the industry and ensures that new graduates are appropriately skilled for the workforce.”
