Fast Ethernet Workgroup Switch Provides Rich Functionality and High Performance
at Low Cost AT-8124XL sets new lowest-entry price point for Layer 2 fixed-configuration 10/100TX Switches, with advanced features such as VLAN Tagging and Priority Queuing . November 06, 2000- Allied Telesyn International (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a worldwide leader in simplifying IP networking for businesses of all sizes, today announced the latest addition to its full family of managed 10/100 auto-negotiating switches that meet market demands for price/performance networking. In addition to its market-leading price point of $37 per port, the AT-8124XL provides advanced features such as Web-based management, per-port VLAN support and Priority Queuing to make these switches easy to install, integrate and manage. "Allied Telesyn is committed to providing its customers with multiple families of simple, affordable dual-speed switches that push the envelope when it comes to price/performance," said Vince Ricco, Allied Telesyn's Senior Vice President of Sales. "This new Layer 2 device is designed to meet the growing demand from medium and small businesses for a low cost, but richly-featured switch that does not need Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, but matches the performance capabilities of other, more expensive alternatives that do." With 24 dual-speed auto-negotiating 10/100TX ports, the AT-8124XL switch
delivers the port density and outstanding performance required for a wide
range of bandwidth-intensive applications. Based on a leading-edge hardware
platform that employs highly efficient, integrated ASIC technology for
maximum performance, the AT-8124XL offers advanced features such as web-based
management, standards-based IEEE 802.1p Priority Queuing and 802.1Q VLAN
Tagging. Running in full duplex mode, each port on the AT-8124XL provides
up to 200Mbps of bandwidth to the end device. Port trunking provides load
sharing of traffic across all links in a trunked group. Each 10/100TX
port supports half/full duplex operation and is IEEE 802.3u auto-negotiation
compliant. This highly competitive feature set includes support for up
to 8,192 MAC addresses, store-and-forward switching mode, automatic address
learning, 802.1d Spanning Tree and port-based VLANs. Support for SNMP,
RMON, Telnet, and RS-232 serial port access mean that both in-band and
out-of-band management options are readily available. Web-based management
gives network administrators and users a new level of simple and universal
access to important network management functions via a familiar web-browser
interface. |
