| Allied Telesyn's New
Cable/DSL Router Brings High-Performance, Multi-Connection Broadband to
SOHO at Commodity Price
New AT-AR220E Cable/DSL router with integrated 10/100 4-port switch supports up to 253 LAN users behind secure NAT Firewall . October 30, 2000- Allied Telesyn International (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a worldwide leader in simplifying IP networking for businesses of all sizes, today announced the newest addition to its family of worldwide connectivity products, the AT-AR220E Cable/DSL router with integral 4-port switch. With room for 4 direct connections right out of the box via its integrated switch, it has the growth potential to support 253 connections, making the AT-AR220E the perfect choice for high-speed, high-capacity, low-cost Internet connectivity for the home or the small, growing business. And, at a price of just $139, there's no barrier - the benefits of distributed broadband access are accessible for any home or small office. The Allied Telesyn AT-AR220E is the perfect solution for the home or small office environment that can benefit from high speed, 'always on' DSL or Cable services to access the Internet. Users simply connect the unit's WAN port to an external DSL or Cable modem, and connect as many as four computers equipped with Ethernet or Fast Ethernet NICs to the built-in 4-port autosensing 10/100 switch to create a fully-functional network for shared broadband and local connectivity. As the network grows, so can the broadband connectivity - at the push of a button, one of the 10/100 ports becomes an uplink port that can connect to other switches or hubs to support as many as 250 computers - for a total of 253 computers taking advantage of the same broadband connection. And the AT-ARR220E 'hides' all users behind one IP address to ensure that the home or office is secure from external hackers. "The rapid deployment and acceptance of Cable and DSL services for Internet connectivity has created a huge demand for products that enable multiple users to share these resources and, at the same time, to operate securely when attached to public networks such as the Internet," said Vince Ricco, Allied Telesyn's Senior Vice President of Sales. "With volume demand comes commoditization, which brings prices down further and stimulates even more demand. Allied Telesyn is known for strength in cost and reliability engineering, so the AT-AR220E Cable/DSL router is a clear fit in Allied Telesyn's strategy - we are the perfect company to bring broadband resource sharing products to the SOHO market." The AT-AR220E joins Allied Telesyn's growing family of broadband support
products, and accentuates the company's commitment to IP All the Way.
It joins sister products for the branch office and corporate markets,
AT-AR320 and AT-AR320S, providing many of the same benefits at a price
point that makes it practical for the SOHO user. The AT-AR220E, AT-AR320
and AT-AR320S are the first in a line of products that will include ADSL
and SHDSL Routers with built-in DSL capability to provide feature-rich
functionality for the small office and corporate user. . |
