Study Names Allied Telesyn #1 Worldwide in Unmanaged Fast Ethernet Switch Market

Allied Telesyn’s products make top five in six different categories in Dell’Oro Group’s new Shared Hub & LAN Switch Report

Bothell, WA, February 24, 2000 - Allied Telesyn International (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a worldwide leader in simplifying networking for businesses of all sizes, is ranked No.1 in the world for unmanaged Fast Ethernet switches, according to an independently-researched and published report. According to The Dell’Oro Group’s ‘Shared Hub & LAN Switch report,’ Allied Telesyn is leading the market with a 27.5% share for the fourth quarter, 1999. The company’s networking switch and hub products, in fact, rank among the top five in six different categories covered by the report.

The same Dell’Oro report also reveals that the market for low-end switches grew by approximately 19% in the fourth quarter of 1999, while high and mid-range switches declined by 1% over the same period.

"Dell’Oro’s research confirms what we have been saying for the last six months: that simple unmanaged switching delivers the performance that small and medium-sized businesses require and at a price point that makes them the natural successor to simple Ethernet hubs," said Sean Keohane, Allied Telesyn’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We strongly believe that by continuing to provide high-quality, well-supported reliable Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions that enhance connectivity for networks of all sizes, the market will continue to respond positively."

The report was published by The Dell'Oro Group, a research and consulting firm that specializes in business planning and strategic competitive analysis in the networking industry. Dell’Oro’s ‘Shared Hub & LAN Switch’ report is published quarterly.
